BON CHARGE Red Light Therapy Mat

What is the BON CHARGE Red Light Therapy Mat?

The BON CHARGE mat is a therapeutic device that utilizes specific wavelengths of Red and Near-Infrared (NIR) light to penetrate the skin and reach the muscles and joints. At the Collective, we integrate these mats into our Glow Flow and Glow Strength sessions, allowing you to experience the benefits of photobiomodulation while you move.

How does it work?

Red light therapy works at a cellular level. The light energy is absorbed by the mitochondria—the "powerhouses" of your cells—which then produce more ATP (energy). This process, known as photobiomodulation, enhances cellular repair, reduces oxidative stress, and improves circulation.

What are the primary benefits?

  • Accelerated Recovery: By boosting cellular energy, red light helps repair muscle tissue and reduce soreness after a challenging Pilates or strength workout.

  • Reduced Inflammation: NIR light penetrates deeper into the joints and tissues to help alleviate chronic aches and systemic inflammation.

  • Skin Health & "The Glow": Red light stimulates collagen and elastin production, helping to firm the skin and improve overall tone and texture.

  • Enhanced Energy & Mood: Exposure to these wavelengths can help regulate your circadian rhythm and provide a natural, non-stimulant energy boost.

  • Increased Circulation: Improved blood flow ensures that oxygen and nutrients are delivered more efficiently to the muscles being worked during class.

Is the mat hot?

Unlike an infrared sauna, red light therapy is "cold" or "non-thermal." You may feel a very subtle, soothing warmth from the high-quality LEDs, but the mat does not get hot. This makes it the perfect surface for a high-intensity Glow Strength session.

What should I wear?

For maximum benefit, the light needs to reach your skin. However, you will still receive significant systemic benefits even through lightweight workout gear. We recommend your standard comfortable Pilates attire.

When will I see results?

While many clients feel a "post-class glow" and reduced soreness after just one session, the benefits of red light therapy are cumulative. We recommend 2–3 sessions per week to see significant improvements in skin health and recovery times.

How do I join a Red Light class?

Look for Glow Flow or Glow Strength on our class schedule in the Pilates Collective App. These classes are held at our new 8330 Merge Ave studio and utilize the BON CHARGE mats for the duration of the session.

Are there any contraindications?

Red light therapy is non-invasive and considered very safe. However, if you are pregnant, have a history of photosensitivity, or are taking medications that increase light sensitivity, please consult with a physician. Stephanie is also available to discuss how to safely integrate this biohacking tool into your wellness routine.
